Account Locked Out Summary: When trying to login, a user receives the message “The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged onto.” Reason: An account will become locked after 3 incorrect login attempts. Prerequisites: Microsoft Authenticator already configured on users cellphone for multi-factor authentication. Steps: Open a web browser and go to https://aka.ms/sspr Follow the steps to Get back into your account. Once at the Who are you? screen, enter your email address or username in the first field. Then enter the characters in the picture in the second field and click Next. Next at the Why are you having trouble signing in? screen, select ‘I know my password, but still can’t sign in’ and click Next. Next at the Verification Step 1 > unlock your account screen, select Approve a notification on my authenticator app and click the Send Notification button. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your cellphone and enter the code displayed on the screen. Your account should now be unlocked.
